A sale every day … but what’s “the color of the week”?
Every item in Goodwill has a colorful tag or sticker with its price. There are six pricing colors and every week one color goes on sale for 50% off. For instance, if the color of the week is blue, everything with a blue pricing tag is actually 50% off the price you see. That means every day you come into Goodwill, something is on sale!
What is a Goodwill Buy The Pound outlet store?
You may wonder what happens if a shirt (or other widget) doesn’t sell in our regular retail stores. That’s when the items go to the Goodwill outlet stores, to give them one last shot at being reused or repurposed in the most cost-effective and sustainable way: close to home. We try to make sure nothing goes to waste; sustainability is so important to our mission.
As a shopping experience, outlets are different from the regular stores in a few important ways. The outlets are not a curated experience; it’s more of a yard-sale atmosphere. Instead of clothing racks and organized shelves, you’ll find large bins piled with donated goods. The selection is literally changing all the time, with bins being swapped every hour or less. When you’re ready to check out, your purchase is weighed and you’ll pay by the pound. If you’ve got a shopping cart full of goods, just roll it up onto the industrial scale. Easy.
